Who are we ?

I am Elise Mathy, a 34-year-old endocrinologist living in Haute-Savoie. My life took an unexpected turn in 2017 when I suffered a stroke, which left me with after-effects and disabled. However, my determination to overcome this ordeal never wavered. In 2023, I published a book entitled “Dreaming is Life”, in which I share my inspiring testimony.

My name is Louis Gustin, and I work as a disability project manager for social ministries. In 2015, I too suffered a stroke which left me aphasic. Since then, my life has taken on new meaning, and I embarked on an extraordinary journey across Europe to raise awareness about stroke and aphasia with Elise. In 2022, we traveled around Lake Geneva by tricycle while giving conferences. We even had the opportunity to present a conference at the UN in Geneva.

Together, since 2019, we have been filmed by France 2 for the making of a film called “Elise and Louis”. Our story of perseverance and resilience has touched many people, and we even started our own business to continue sharing our message and raising awareness about stroke and aphasia. Our journey is a living example of the strength of human will in the face of adversity.
